The pen is mightier than the sword
“TO HOLD A PEN IS TO BE AT WAR”
“Pen” here stands for the writer and “Sword” for the fighter. Great executives can serve their nation better than great fighters.
The influence of good literature upon the world is constructive, whereas the war is destructive. The sword destroys while the pen creates. There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write. It indicates that the written words are more powerful than the brutality as a tool for communicating point. The writer is more effective than the soldier in the sense that the former exercises a wider and has more enduring influence on his follower than the later.
The world is ruled by the pen but not by the sword. The writer can solve different issues calmly and peacefully. High class literature has a greater influence on mankind. The great writers like Valmiki , Vyas, Kalidas, Homer ,Shakespeare and Rabindranath as well as the great books like the Gita , the Bible, the Koran inspire delight and comfort the hearts of men. It is the power of pen that brings about the great social and political revolutions. The world’s history shows how true the saying is. The force of the blade closes in misfortune, rout, and annihilation in light of the bringing about death and misfortune. On the other hand, the force of a pen carries internal changes into the readers through motivation and inspiration.
The military conquests of Alexander, Napoleon, Hitler were as short-lived as they were dazzling. But the writings of Rousseau, Voltaire, Karl Marx inspired the revolutions in France and Russia and still influence the minds of men in other countries as well.
“One child , one teacher, one book , and one pen can change the world.”
