Parts of speech
- The Parts of speech are the classes into which all the words of the English language are categorized.
- Pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions are called closed classes considering the way that new words can’t be added easily.
- Whereas Verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and interjections are known as open classes as they can easily add new words.

- There are 8 parts of speech in English.

1) NOUN: A noun means a naming word. It is actually the name of a person, thing, ideas, animal etc.
e.g – Delhi is the capital of India.
Peacock is our national bird.
2) Pronoun: A pronoun is a word that is used in place of noun. It replaces a noun.
e.g- He is a very good player.
She will have to be punished.
3) Adjective: The word which is used for qualifying a noun or pronoun is known as an adjective.
e.g – A beautiful lady is waiting for her ride.
Everybody likes a spacious room.
4) Verb: A word that shows an action, a state or possession is called a verb.
e.g – King Mallika sways the mild with mildness.
Chandrayaan itself is a cuboid shaped spacecraft.
5) Adverb: A word that says something more about a verb an adjective or another adverb is called an adverb.
e.g – come here quickly.
6) Prepositions: A Preposition is a word that shows the relation between another word & a noun or pronoun that follows it.
e.g– The dog is under the table.
Tea may be able to reduce the risk of cancer.
7) Conjunction: A word which combines two words, phrases, or clauses is known as a conjunction .
e.g – Kanu and Kalu are playing cricket.
Rama or Rubin has taken my book.
8) Interjections: A word that expresses some feelings is called interjection.
e.g– Alas! this little boy has no one his own in this world.
